TRADITIONAL TRAINING & TRANSPORT BASKETS
Our traditional pigeon training and transport baskets are built for fanciers who want a strong, practical and well-ventilated basket for regular training, race preparation, marking, stock bird transport and everyday loft use.
Available across multiple capacities, from compact 0–6 bird baskets through to our largest standard 20–25 bird model, each basket is handcrafted using timber framing, Class 3 plywood and solid oak dowelling. The open dowel construction and front ventilation are designed to maintain airflow during transport, including when baskets are stacked.
Depending on the model selected, alternative door configurations are also available, including our standard mesh and plywood hybrid front and dowelled door options for fanciers who prefer a more traditional finish.
02 · ALTERNATIVE ACCESS & HANDLING
Our end-opening pigeon crates offer a practical alternative to the more traditional top or single-opening basket format, giving fanciers easier access when loading, unloading and releasing birds during training, transport and race preparation.
Designed around the same emphasis on strength, ventilation and bird welfare as the rest of our transport range, these crates are particularly useful where access from the end of the basket better suits your vehicle, stacking arrangement or handling routine.
Selected models are available with opening access at both ends, giving even greater flexibility when positioning the crate and managing birds during transport.

04 · MADE TO SUIT YOUR REQUIREMENTS
If one of our standard pigeon training baskets or transport crates does not suit your exact requirements, we are happy to consider bespoke builds. Different vehicles, bird numbers, storage arrangements and handling methods can all benefit from a basket manufactured around the space and intended use.
Bespoke enquiries can include alternative overall dimensions, capacities, opening arrangements and other practical changes, subject to what we consider suitable for strength, ventilation, handling and bird welfare.
Every custom basket or crate is assessed individually, so bespoke work is supplied on a Price on Application basis rather than through standard online pricing.

Product capacities are intended as practical guides to help compare basket sizes. The appropriate number of pigeons for any journey can vary depending on bird size, journey duration, outside temperature, ventilation, vehicle conditions and how the basket will be used.
Good judgement should always take priority over simply filling a basket to its stated maximum capacity.

Choose a basket around the number of pigeons you normally transport rather than simply purchasing the largest available model. Vehicle space, lifting and handling should also be considered alongside bird capacity.
Our standard training baskets use timber framing with Class 3 plywood panels and solid oak dowelling. Construction specifications can vary slightly between basket sizes and models, so individual product listings should be checked for the exact specification.
Yes. Ventilation is an important part of the basket design. Open dowelled sections and ventilated areas are used to help maintain airflow around the birds during transport.
The standard basket design is intended to retain ventilation when baskets are positioned together or stacked appropriately. Care should still be taken to ensure ventilation openings are not obstructed by the vehicle, other equipment or surrounding objects.
The main difference is the access arrangement. Traditional baskets use our conventional opening configuration, while end-opening crates allow birds to be loaded or released through an opening at the end of the crate. Selected designs may provide access from both ends.
Yes. The range is suitable for a variety of pigeon transport requirements including training, race preparation, marking, moving stock birds and general loft management.
Selected M.A.C. Lofts basket designs incorporate rear drinker provision. Please check the individual product specification for the basket you are considering.
